What this report shows

For the date range, how many hours employees worked for each client, job, work type, work site, or employee. Six views:

  • Summary (default) — one row per job with total hours and employee count.
  • By client — one row per client assigned through the job on each time entry.
  • By job — each job with the employees who worked on it and their per-job hours.
  • By work type — one row per optional service, task, or accounting category.
  • By job and work site — one row for each job and work site combination, so you can distinguish the same job performed at different places.
  • By employee — each employee with the jobs they worked on and their per-job hours.

The summary above the table follows the selected view. Client and work-type views show their record count and time without that detail. Hours without a job, client, or work type appear in a clearly named final row.

On screen, durations use hours and minutes for quick reading. CSV and Excel exports also include total minutes and decimal-hour columns for calculations.

Filters

Use the date range, client, job, work type, work site, employee, and view controls to narrow the report. No client, No work type, and No work site select entries without that detail. Client attribution comes from the job on each time entry. Every headline total and table row follows the same filters.

Timesheet approval shows how many employees in the report have approved timesheets covering the full selected period. When approval is incomplete, open See what needs approval to see the affected employees, date ranges, and whether each timesheet is Not submitted, Awaiting review, or Rejected. This status covers timesheet approval; it does not describe time off approval.

Exporting

The export menu offers Download CSV, Download Excel, and Download PDF. The export includes client hours, job hours, work-type hours, job and work-site detail, and employee job-hours detail using the current filters.

Common questions

Hours are showing under "(No job)".

Those clock-ins did not have a job assigned. To require a job on future clock-ins from an employee's own account or a kiosk, create the active jobs employees should select, then open Settings, choose Time Entry Rules, and enable Require job selection. For phone entries, active jobs also need phone codes before the call can ask for one.

An employee is missing from a job they worked on.

Open the Timesheet page, filter to that employee and date range, and check that the employee clocked out and the completed entry has that job assigned. Entries with no job land in (No job).

Can I see labor cost, not just hours?

This report shows hours only. Use Labor Cost by Job for worked time and pay cost allocated by job. Use Payroll Summary for employee payroll totals.

Why are the hours lower than the clocked duration?

Job Hours subtracts completed unpaid breaks from worked time. Paid breaks remain included. Open the Timesheet page to review the contributing entries and breaks.
