Can HVAC technicians track hours by maintenance, installation, or emergency job?
Yes. A Clockspot job can represent preventive maintenance, an installation, an emergency call, shop work, training, or another work category your company uses. The selected job stays with the time entry and appears in the Job Hours report. Clockspot does not create customer work orders or equipment records.
Does Clockspot continuously track an HVAC technician’s location or route?
No. When a technician clocks in or out from their browser and shares location, Clockspot can attach GPS evidence to that clock event. It does not follow the technician between calls, draw breadcrumb trails, or optimize routes. Employees can separately record a work trip’s distance, purpose, origin, destination, and optional job or work site for manager review.
What can HVAC employees use to clock in?
Employees can clock in from a web browser on a phone or computer, use a shared browser kiosk with a PIN, or call Clockspot from an authorized cell phone or landline. Clockspot is preparing a native iPhone app for existing customers, but it is not available yet. Android does not currently have a native app. Browser clocking requires internet access, and the planned iPhone app will too.
Can a technician correct a missed clock-out after an emergency call?
Yes. An employee can submit an edit request with the corrected time and a reason. An administrator reviews the recorded and requested values before accepting or rejecting the change, and the entry history preserves the correction context.
How does Clockspot help with seasonal overtime review?
Clockspot classifies recorded hours using the overtime rules your company saves and shows those hours in timesheets and reports for review. It does not forecast seasonal demand, send approaching-overtime alerts, decide staffing coverage, or provide legal advice.
Does Clockspot track EPA Section 608 certification or license expiration?
Clockspot can record accepted certification and license dates on technician profiles and require them for a Work Type, Job, or Work Site. It checks each technician’s record for the shift date, warns about missing or expired requirements, and records any manager override in schedule history. Keep supporting evidence and external verification in the systems built for those jobs.
Does Clockspot replace HVAC dispatch or field-service software?
No. Clockspot focuses on employee time and the payroll-side review. Keep customers, equipment, service agreements, dispatch, routes, work orders, estimates, inventory, invoices, field payments, and job profitability in the systems that run your HVAC operation.
