Overtime tracking software

Overtime tracking alerts you before hours reach time-and-a-half.

Apply daily, weekly, and seventh-day overtime rules with your own thresholds and rates. Alerts go out as employees approach or enter overtime, and reports keep regular and overtime totals separate for payroll.

Get a warning when a shift would add overtime

A shift that pushes an employee past a threshold shows the overtime it would add before you save it. You can always save it anyway.

Overtime follows your workweek, not the calendar week

Pick the day your workweek starts. Daily, weekly, and seventh-day totals all use it, so overtime lines up with your payroll week.

Overtime alerts

Alerts reach you before the threshold.

Choose how much warning you want. Clockspot emails Administrators when an employee is approaching a limit, the moment one is entered, and when remaining published shifts project a crossing later in the week.

Give your bookkeeper an overtime report they can understand.

This program is easy for the employees to use, and for my bookkeeper to run payroll and overtime reports. Very user friendly, and we love it.

Common questions

Get answers before you set up overtime tracking.

  • Daily, weekly, and seventh-day rules
  • Alerts before the threshold
  • Overtime cost by job
Do the state presets guarantee legal compliance?

No. Presets load common rule shapes as a starting point. You are responsible for confirming the rules, exemptions, industry exceptions, and regular-rate requirements that apply to your employees.

Can I see what overtime cost, not just the hours?

Yes. The Payroll Summary report shows each employee’s overtime pay, and the Labor Cost by Job report splits straight-time pay from the overtime premium and allocates that premium across the jobs each employee worked that week.

Does paid time off count toward overtime?

No. Clockspot calculates overtime from worked hours. Paid time off remains available to payroll reports but does not count toward an overtime threshold.

What happens if I change an overtime rule?

Reports use the currently saved rules when they run. Changing a rule and rerunning an older period can change how those historical worked hours are classified.
