What this page controls
Overtime Rules controls the workspace-wide rules Clockspot uses when calculating overtime. Overtime notifications are configured separately in Alerts & Reminders.
Workweek
The first row shows the seven-day period used for weekly overtime. Press Edit workweek to update that boundary on Workweek.
Presets
Use Preset to load Federal (default), California, Alaska / Nevada daily OT, Colorado, or Kentucky rules. If the current rules do not match a preset, the selector shows Custom.
Presets load common rule shapes. They do not decide whether a wage, industry, alternative schedule, or other exception applies. Confirm the rules for your employees before saving.
Rules
Each rule reads from left to right: the rule Type, the hours after which overtime begins, and the overtime pay rate:
- Weekly applies after the weekly threshold.
- Daily applies after the daily threshold.
- Seventh day applies on the seventh consecutive worked day in a workweek.
Use Add rule to add another rule. Use Remove overtime rule to remove one.
Common questions
- Can different employees use different overtime rules?
No. Overtime rules are workspace-wide. For employee-level control, set Exemption to Exempt in Edit pay on Employee Pay to exclude an employee from overtime calculation.
- What happens when I edit a preset?
Selecting a preset loads its rules. If you change the rule list so it no longer matches a preset, the selector shows Custom.
- How many overtime rules can I add?
You can keep up to five rules on this page. The Add rule button is hidden once the list reaches five.
Clockspot keeps clock-ins, corrections, approvals, and payroll-ready hours connected so owners and managers can review the workweek before payroll.
