Start with the site record
A property management or self-storage time clock should track the details the office needs before payroll:
- Clock-in and clock-out times.
- Property, facility, office, job, or location detail.
- GPS context when employees clock in away from the office.
- Missed punches.
- Manual edits and the reason for the change.
- Manager approval.
- A payroll export or summary.
Location detail should earn its place
Location detail helps when managers need to know which property, office, or storage facility used the hours. If nobody reviews that detail before payroll, it may only slow employees down.
Keep it focused
The time clock should not replace lease management, tenant portals, rent collection, maintenance work orders, access control, accounting, payroll processing, or HR.
Its job is narrower: employee hours, visible corrections, manager approval, and records the office can find later.
